Description:
- all of the laptop's multimedia keys like brightness, volume, etc. do not invoke gnome's on screen display anymore -> so no feedback anymore. - the volume keys (volume up and volume down) do not work -> no change in volume (all other keys work but with no feedback) supected package: xf86-input-evdev 2.7.3-2 Steps to reproduce: I upgraded the following x packages: [2012-10-07 00:06] upgraded xf86-input-evdev (2.7.3-1 -> 2.7.3-2) [2012-10-07 00:06] upgraded xf86-input-synaptics (1.6.2-1 -> 1.6.2-2) [2012-10-07 00:06] upgraded xf86-video-intel (2.20.9-1 -> 2.20.9-2) [2012-10-07 00:06] upgraded xorg-server-common (1.12.4-1 -> 1.13.0-2) [2012-10-07 00:06] upgraded xorg-server (1.12.4-1 -> 1.13.0-2) |

Downgrading the following packages the defect disappears:
xorg-server
xorg-server-common
xf86-input-evdev
xf86-input-keyboard
However "xev" returns the corresponding keycodes for the multimedia keys and the GNOME shortcut dialog recognizes the pressed key (assigning it to a desired shortcut) but after it doesn't trigger the assigned shortcut.
So it could be some change in the new xorg-server which is not fully recognized in GNOME 3.4.2.
Maybe a GNOME core bug?
