Description: Boinc seems to have problems downloading 'work units' from 'http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/', and OpenSSL 1.0.1c seems to be the cause. WCG requires a secure connection. I managed to workaround the problem by configuring and re-compiling the current OpenSSL package with the option '-DOPENSSL_MAX_TLS1_2_CIPHER_LENGTH=50'. Ubuntu has a bug report about the issue here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/+bug/986147, and compiles with this in the latest versions of their OpenSSL package. Additional info: More information is available in this forum discussion: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1160190#p1160190. This problem effects the functionality of the boinc package for me, and at least one other confirmed user, although no other Archlinux users have reported anything yet, I do suspect this other forum post could be a possible third user effected: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=144073. Steps to reproduce: Install boinc from community repo, add 'world community project', downloads never complete, and stay at 0%. |

I can confirm that this tweak fixes the issue of using BOINC with
World Community Grid. I run BOINC on several servers, and I had
been wondering for the last few months why they weren't able to
download work units any more. Thanks for finding the fix.

Is this issue fixed with openssl-1.0.1.e-2?

Yup, I can confirm the same. Tasks downloaded without any issues.

I have been using the latest openssl to date (openssl-1.0.1.e-3),
and so far no connection problems have occurred, I can only assume
the removal of all TLS workarounds has helped, one other
confirmation in the above mentioned forum thread supports this. I
consider this bug fixed, unless anyone else is still having
              problems?.
