I like the new network scripts in testing but they lack any
sort of way to start wpa_supplicant when a wireless
interface is brought up. I wrote a quick and dirty patch and
posted it here:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=110436#110436 It basically looks for the line WPAOPTS in the network profile and starts wpa_supplicant if its there. Even if wpa_supplicant never gets officially supported in arch it would still be useful to have a way to start it or other auxiliary programs from the script. |

I've written a new patch to add wpa_supplicant support to the new
release of the initscripts in current. Even if this isn't the
direction you would like to go with arch I would still like to see
a way to start an auxiary program from the network profile make it
in to the offical initscripts.
I've applied your patch to netcfg for the next release of
initscripts (soon).
