Here is how I have testet the bug: have gdm in rc.conf last in startup.
Then with this rc.local file:
sleep 10
echo test

when 10 sec has gone, the gdm has locked the keyboard and there is noway to get keyboard without reboot..
Workaround: don't use rc.local for stuff that takes time to exec.

this is know, and the only thing you can do is start gdm at the last place, from your rc.local ;)

ok sorry then, I was not able to find it in bug database. (but the way I have worked around it is have a /etc/rc.d/mysettings where I have what was in rc.local, not nice but works ;)

I will look at gdm 2.8.0.1 soon, hope this version fixes things. I couldn't reproduce this bug, but now you have found a reproducible testcase :)

ok -4 seems to have a fix now, we do not use /dev/tty%d but /dev/vc/%d. this seems to be the reason why gdm doesn't find the keyboard in the first place.

please try it, and report back.
