Description:
Today I did a fresh installation using netinstall CD. Everything went fine, but after reboot I got nothing but "Arch Linux" and "www.archlinux.org". Same thing happens in Failsafe mode. I can't do anything, even log in using tty1 terminal. There are no error messages at all, and there is no way to see logs... except chroot from livecd, but I don't know exactly what to look for. I did the fresh installation again, but nothing changed. My hardware is: P5Q PRO, Core 2 Duo E8500, GeForce GTX 550Ti. Attached screenshot is not mine, but I edited it so it looks exactly the same. |

I don't have proprietary drivers installed neither in Arch nor in Fedora. I'm using nouveau.
It happened from kernel >= 3.2 and i must use 3.1.9 to run my archlinux.
It freeze after udev loading.
My laptop is Dell XPS 15z
I finally figured out that it's a bug in kernel. I've sent bug reports:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=785221
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42876
But nothing changed yet. The bug still exists in kernel 3.3.0.
The only way to get your system to work is to boot with "acpi=off noapic" into console and install proprietary nvidia driver.
@ArtKun, what do you mean with "install proprietary nvidia driver"? Archlinux do not install the original?
