Details
It would be nice to be able to tell pacman to keep in the
database the md5sums of all files of every package, so one
could easily tell which files in the filesystem differ from
the ones in the packages, which would be useful to determine
where there are tweaks in the installation.
Of course, the default behavior would be the current one, and with the option set to true, on package installation/upgrade, pacman stores the md5sum of every file in the package in the database, which would then be consulted as needed by the user. I see this being useful when a user is moving to a new hardware and wants to bring to the new system only the things that are necessary, but would like to be sure to look at everything he has changed himself. Also, a new sysadmin arriving to manage a server that used to be maintained by someone else would very much appreciate this feature. |
