The default /boot/grub/menu.lst that is provided on the
2010.05 net install CD (see attatched) refers to the kernel
image as being at /vmlinuz26 and the initrd as being at
/kernel26.img.
However, since the inclusion of kernel 3.0, the kernel image is at /vmlinuz-linux and the initrd is at initramfs-linux.img. This discrepancy causes a boot failure as Grub cannot find either file. While this can be fixed by changing the menu.lst at installation it is not immediately apparent that that is necessary, and it took me a while to work out that this was the issue.
