Description:
There's no "conkeror-spawn-helper" binary.
Are we supposed to build conkeror-spawn-helper by ourselves and put it wherever we wish or is it really a bug in this release?

Steps to reproduce:
Install and use 'pacman -Ql conkeror-git' to see that there's no conkeror-spawn-helper, only conkeror-spawn-helper.c.

This is made by design. The feature did not work for me anyway, and to have a "-any" package, it had to be removed. On the other hand conkeror-spawn-helper violated all packaging standards as a binary staying under /usr/share.

Could you explain what you mean by "did not work"? With conkeror-spawn-helper, conkeror launched external programs to view downloaded mime types (i.e., by pressing "o" at the prompt). Without it, I get the error reported by the first post when I try to open, say, a downloaded pdf. This seems to me a major lack of functionality. Might I ask what the reasons are for making conkeror an "any" package?

It saves time for the maintainer and space on the server and mirrors. Both reasons are of minor importance.

I would vote for including conkeror-spawn-helper in the package -- i.e., restoring the "make" in the PKGBUILD. I think being able to launch external applications is worth duplicating the space on the servers (especially given the small size of the package).

Also, might I ask why the new conkeror launch script cd's into /usr/share/conkeror rather than simply calling xulrunner /usr/share/conkeror/application.ini?

Seconding Matt's vote. If a binary in /usr/share is so much of a concern, i'm also fine with the old behaviour of installing the helper in /usr/bin.

I suspect the cd is needed for conkeror to find the conkeror-spawn-helper in /usr/share/conkeror, which would be an ironic reason it not being there either.

Thirding Matt's vote. The packager's reasons are mostly because he has no time and interest to maintain this package. I suggest to disown this and add it to someone more interested in Conkeror. Would be okay.
You must include conkeror-spawn-helper, either way.
