I actually like the logo a lot. But let's go a bit further: Remove boot logo support.

1) It is only a gimmick, no real feature.
2) It is only shown with vesafb, which is being replaced by native FB/KMS drivers more and more (so only very few people actually see the logo).

It's not about when it's shown or how it looks... It can even be disabled by a kernel boot-line without kms additionally. Lastly, I myself do _not_ see it either, but it's a principle im reffering to here i.e. if arch is the kinda distro which has a need for adding branding to their packages! Oh well, It's a lost cause anyway, as i've just gotten a "gripe" report closed about patching xorg's default background is OK because it's ugly by default!!! With such ppl in control of arch, then i'm clearly banging my head across a wall here and completelly wasting my time!

As almost nobody actually sees the logo, I would say delete it. No need to customize anything that isn't shown.

As for the broken checkerboard pattern that we remove from Xorg: live with it. The pattern is broken by default and causes moire on a lot of screens. I don't want moire on my screens because it's the upstream default.

Of course I wouldn't look at it by default either, and use xsetroot from xinitrc to make it black also, which is the way it's supposed to be done!

The branding shouldn't be removed because nobody sees it, but because it's got no place in this distro!

As you are already expecting this report to be a lost cause, let's meet your expectations right away and close it.

I don't know what "such people" are, and why you assume that you're "banging your head across a wall", but I am not taking this shit rant for no reason at all.

Next time you want something done, be polite.
