The current version is 23-2 and python2 is listed as an optdepend for pkgconflict: http://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk/PKGBUILD?h=packages/pkgtools

It's closed because the problem is fixed. I'm not sure what OP's issue is. python2 is listed as an optdepend for pkgconflict as you said. PEBKAC?
