When I run 2.6.11 my kernel freezes trying to do pcmcia stuff (load a card, remove a card). Sometimes it comes back with an IRQ#9 was ignored error other times it's just toast. Either way pcmcia doesn't work.

No, pcmcia works fine here on both my laptops (an older sony vaio and a LinuxCertified.com OEM model).

Also freezes for me with 2.6.11.7 when I try to /etc/rc.d/pcmcia start, I've got a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Notebook.

Could someone try kernel26mm, or at least try to patch the kernel with this patch:

I think this patch could be the solution for the problem, but I'm not sure as my laptop never had problems with pcmcia.

Apparently the newest kernel (2.6.11.10?) works on my laptop. I had to reinstall and I just went with the stock ide kernel. Strange that.
