Banshee 1.6.1-1 has a significant lag at startup and between songs (several seconds). Sorting tracks no longer works, tracks are played in random order (even though shuffling is off), and the wrong track is marked as currently playing.

This seems to be an issue with a new version of SQLite, see this forum thread:

Check http://www.sqlite.org/src/rptview?rn=7 and ask banshee developers if it's caused by banshee or sqlite. There's also a new minor patch release now in testing to solve corrupted dbs.

I have talked to dnielsen of banshee, and he confirmed that this issue is caused by sqlite3, versions 3.7.0 and 3.7.0.1. The patch for sqlite is here https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/maverick-changes/2010-August/005103.html

I will ping the maintainer of sqlite3 to cherrypick this patch.

see #20548 - this is a regression in sqlite. a fix is known. it's not allowed to patch sqlite just for a performance regression in one application. so "won't fix" closing it.

This bug has been fixed upstream. This also effects much more than just one application. See http://www2.sqlite.org/src/info/13f033c865 for a description of the problem.

A checkout of the latest version will include the fix for this.

3.7.1 in testing should have the fix. please test it.

3.7.1 in testing fixes the problem. Thanks!
