Details
Description:
Can we discuss adding mysql/postgresql support to proftpd? It was requested in the past but closed because of the giant mysql dependancy. Now that we have libmysqlclient and postgresql-libs broken off this is not such the issue it once was. Our postfix supports both, shouldn't our proftpd? |

I agree with Judd's initial assessment, despite having the
libraries split from the main packages, compiling with
mysql/postgresql support still requires them as deps and not
makedeps afaik.
Right it will require them as full deps but we have several other
server packages (dovecot, postfix, pdns, cyrus) that support it
already. We need an official stance on what libraries we support
as a distro instead of each package supporting what the maintainer
configures.
Perhaps we should take this to the ML and get everyone else's
opinions?
Sure, that's fine by me.
I have to side with Dale here. Saying "oh that's too many deps" is
a silly argument because everything under the sun depends on these
libs
Since I seem to be outnumbered, a version with mysql/postgresql
enabled is in [testing]
Thanks Dan, is it compiled against the current openssl or v1.0.0?
Compiled against the openssl-1.0.0 package in [testing]
