gnome-panel is just a makedepends, without gnome-panel gdm can still work normally.

gnome-panel is only used for gdm-user-switch-applet. i think we can move it to optdepends. What do you think Jan?

ok, gnome-panel is needed in fast-switch-user;

now , we must check if fast-switch-user is in the GDM archlinux package

-- if not dependency are:

check it in http://live.gnome.org/GDM

-- if fast-switch-user is instead in GDM package then gnome-panel is a dependency:

check it in 'Files' list in GDM archlinux package page, i think...

OK, i've downloaded GDM .tar package from GNOME ftp site and i've seen that Fast-User-Switch-Applet is now included as standard in GDM; now, then, i/we can say that gnome-panel is not a dep for GDM package !
