Description:

Since mkinitcpio was updated to version 0.6 I can't boot my RAID 0 partition with my Arch Linux 64 bit installation. I get the following error after grub

ERROR: either the required RAID SET not found or more options are required
no raid sets and with names ">dev/null"

ERROR: Unable to determine major/minor of root devices '/dev/mapper/isw_mapper_ebaccehbjc_Volumep1'

then I'm dumped into a recovery shell and if I exit the shell I get a kernel panic. Funny thing is that I can boot my fallback kernel just fine but it seems to be complaining about missing .so files in dmraid... rebuild with mkinitcpio -p kernel26 doesn't give any errors. I boot my kernels this way (from grub)

# (0) Arch Linux
title Arch Linux
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/mapper/isw_ebaccehbjc_Volume0p1 rootfstype=ext4 ro quiet vga=792
initrd /boot/kernel26.img

# ((1) Arch Linux
title Arch Linux Fallback
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/mapper/isw_ebaccehbjc_Volume0p1 rootfstype=ext4 ro
initrd /boot/kernel26-fallback.img

Additional info:
* package version(s)
* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:

1. dmraid installation needed
2. rebuild with mkinitcpio -p kernel26
This task depends upon

The file that seems to be missing is libdmraid-events-dos.so. I get an error with the fallback kernel saying "no such file".

Seems that missing error is mentioned also here

According to a discussion this afternoon, adding libdmraid-events-isw.so fixes the problem - the -dos.so is apparently not needed and is not even part of the dmraid package. Try adding this change: http://repos.archlinux.org/wsvn/packages/dmraid/trunk/dmraid_install?op=diff&rev=68966 to /lib/initcpio/install/dmraid and regenerate the initramfs. Please report if this helps.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 15 February 2010, 21:19 GMT
Tried it, didn't help or change anything. Can't boot my normal image but fallback works but gives these libdmraid-events-dos.so errors.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Monday, 15 February 2010, 21:34 GMT
Ah, I misread your initial report. If the fallback image boots, some modules are removed by autodetect. Can you post file lists for both images (zcat filename | cpio -t) and the output of lsmod after the system booted? Thanks.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 15 February 2010, 21:39 GMT
I'm a bit unsure what you mean by image and filename?

zcat "filename" | cpio -t
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Monday, 15 February 2010, 21:47 GMT
I mean the kernel26.img and kernel26-fallback.img. Those are gzip-compressed cpio archives and you will get the file list by:
zcat /boot/kernel26.img | cpio -t
or
zcat /boot/kernel26-fallback.img | cpio -t

If you replaced the COMPRESSION option in mkinitcpio.conf you need xzcat if you chose lzma and bzcat if you chose bzip2 instead of zcat.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 05:21 GMT
OK, then I did understand you correctly. I'll check that tonight when I get home from work. Did something change in dmraid 1.0.0rc16-2 from 1.0.0rc16-1? Because I had no issue with that one but then again this was before the new version of mkinitcpio.

Regards

André

See: http://repos.archlinux.org/wsvn/packages/?compare[]=%2Fdmraid%2Ftrunk%2F%4067447&compare[]=%2Fdmraid%2Ftrunk%2F%4057838&comparesubmit=Compare+Revisions&op=comp

The biggest change is that we now use the dynamic version of dmraid instead of the static one. Maybe it's even a mkinitcpio problem and not a dmraid problem - the autodetect hook should not even affect dmraid directly, so the fact that the fallback image works tells me there is a problem other than dmraid.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 08:20 GMT
That's good to know that it might not be dmraid causing this problem. I was afriad that my RAID 0 might be messed up.

OK, here is zcat gave for the two images

dm-mirror is needed for dmraid imho, at least if you run it in raid1 mode.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 19:40 GMT
Yeah, but I'm running a RAID 0 installation.
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 19:41 GMT
But it must be a dm module which is missing, else why should fallback image work?
Afaik dm-mirror is a must for dmraid.
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 19:42 GMT
You could try if adding dm-mirror to MODULES= array in mkinitcpio.conf fixes your issue.

Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 20:07 GMT
adding dm-mirror didn't help or change anything when booting the normal image. Upon exiting the recovery shell I just get the error:

mount: mounting /dev/mapper/isw_mapper_ebaccehbjc_Volume0p1 on /new_root no such file or directory
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 20:10 GMT
I see the same dm- modules in both images, so that isn't it. dmraid is shown twice because you added it twice to the configuration.

I don't see anything obvious that might be wrong with the non-fallback image. Only explanation for me is a possible timing problem, something(tm) takes longer because the fallback image is bigger and contains more modules and therefore it works.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 20:17 GMT
This sucks... so there is apparant fix for this at the moment.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 20:38 GMT
"mount: mounting /dev/mapper//dev/mapper/isw_mapper_ebaccehbjc_Volume0p1 on /new_root no such file or directory" doesn't really make sense. Is there really a double-/dev/mapper there?
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 20:51 GMT
Ups sorry that is just a typo of mine.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 21:01 GMT
Just for fun, can you edit the dmraid hook and replace the "sleep 0.5" line (which is not good anyway) with something like sleep 5 and see if it helps? Not a permanent solution, but if it helps we have a hint.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Tuesday, 16 February 2010, 21:38 GMT
Nope, didn't help either other than booting took a bit longer of course but kernel image still fails and fallback works but with above mentioned errors.
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 07:59 GMT
replacing sleep 0.5 with
/sbin/udevadm settle
is also worth a try.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 08:00 GMT
I'll try that tonight when I get home.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 08:09 GMT
If "sleep 5" didn't work, then settling uevents will certainly do no good.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 19:28 GMT
So what will? Downgrading to dmraid-1.0.0rc16-1 maybe? Is it still available somewhere on one of the mirrors?
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 20:55 GMT
mirrors.kernel.org usually keeps old packages for a while. It should even still be compatible with the rest of mkinitcpio.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 21:36 GMT
Well, that did it. Downgrading to dmraid-1.0.0.rc16-1 allows me to boot my regular kernel again (after passing mkinitcpio -p kernel26). So something is up with dmraid-1.0.0.rc16-2.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 21:43 GMT
Yes, we are in contact with the dmraid author - there is a difference between the static and the dynamic build, which we hope he will make into a runtime option instead of a compile time option.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 21:44 GMT
I do now get a warning regarding busybox

Init: line 18 /bin/replace: not found
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Wednesday, 17 February 2010, 21:54 GMT
Yes, that doesn't exist anymore, you probably need to use the hook from the new package with the old binary. Tobias, should we rebuild this with the static version until the issues are sorted out?
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Thursday, 18 February 2010, 07:08 GMT
OK, so I should just replace the dmraid_hook in the old package with the new one then?
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Thursday, 18 February 2010, 07:49 GMT
andre could you do me a favour and try the archboot iso file to boot your pc and look if dmraid works there.
http://www.archlinux.de/?page=GetFileFromMirror;file=iso/archboot/2010.02
it uses also the dynamic dmraid binary, but i add some other glibc libs in there which are not detectable by mkinitcpio.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Thursday, 18 February 2010, 07:52 GMT
How do you want me to test this? Just boot the archboot cd and see if it sees my raid?
Comment by Tobias Powalowski (tpowa) - Thursday, 18 February 2010, 10:34 GMT
correct the archboot cd runs also dmraid -ay at bootup and should assemble the raid device.
Also it would be possible to debug what is really missing in the archboot environment.
You can also only launch kernel and initrd from your bootloader if you don't want to burn the image.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Thursday, 18 February 2010, 10:37 GMT
OK, I'll do that this weekend if I don't find time to do it tonight. Regarding fixing my Init: line 18 /bin/replace: not found. I just need to replace dmraid_hook with the new one?
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Thursday, 18 February 2010, 12:10 GMT
Haven't checked it yet, but I guess that should work.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Friday, 19 February 2010, 20:34 GMT
I tried replacing the dmraid_hook with the new one and it breaks the image and I get the same errors as before and can only boot the fallback image. Haven't tried the archboot CD yet but will do later.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Friday, 19 February 2010, 21:08 GMT
OK, I finally tried the archboot image and I tried to boot arch64 and it boots the cd all the way, so you can start installing but it gives the errors about my raid

Comment by Marcello Maggioni (Kariddi) - Thursday, 25 February 2010, 00:43 GMT
This happens to me also after having updated my system today. I see those messages at boot

Seems harmless on my system, because it boots and sees all the partitions normally.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Thursday, 25 February 2010, 07:06 GMT
That may be so but a fix would be nice.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Thursday, 25 February 2010, 08:37 GMT
Keep getting this error twice also

Init: line 18 /bin/replace: not found

what I don't understand why I'm getting it twice. I only have dm_mod in "HOOKS" of mkinitcpio.conf.
Comment by James Sharam (neutrix) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 15:07 GMT
I too have this problem, had it for the last few days.

Just in case it hasn't been mentioned before, it is still possible to boot with the problem.

Turn on the computer, wait to be dropped in to the recovery console. When there run "dmraid -ay" and then "exit". The computer will then boot arch normally. This could be a temporary workaround while this problem is fixed.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 15:10 GMT
@neutrix: So you are running the dmraid-1.0.0.rc16-2 then?

Regards

André
Comment by James Sharam (neutrix) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 15:13 GMT
Yes, I believe so, I am running whatever the latest version is in the repository. I am not at home at the moment so I cannot check but I'll post back later to confirm.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 15:16 GMT
Has to be that one because if you run the version before it doesn't dump you into the recovery console but just complains about busybox but it still boots in the end.
Comment by James Sharam (neutrix) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 15:20 GMT
OK, sounds reasonable. Does my method allow work for you too?
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 15:21 GMT
haven't tried it yet but will later.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 15:47 GMT
Just tried it and it seems to work. I can boot my machine if I pass the dmraid -ay in the recovery console though I still get the errors

but when I try to log into my KDEmod session. KDE goes completely haywire now and plasma is crashing etc. This doesn't happen with the fallback image.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 15:58 GMT
It is workspace that is crashing on me. Seems like it can't ID my partitions. The device manager claims that there is a 46,6 GB device plugged in but there isn't. I just have 2 500 GB HDD that run as RAID 0 with a 4 GB SWAP partition and 75 GB for /root and the rest for /home.
Comment by James Sharam (neutrix) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 16:07 GMT
Strange, I don't experience that. I'm running standard KDE without problems after booting. I too get those errors when running "dmraid -ay", but it does successfully detect every partition and run ok once I leave the recovery console. Did you change any of your other settings while trying to fix the error before?
Comment by James Sharam (neutrix) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 16:11 GMT
Oh, by the way, I guess I should add that I can't boot from the fallback image or the main one. The only way I have been able to boot is with the method that I posted above.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 16:16 GMT
OK, my fallback image works fine it is the main one I can't boot. If I downgrade dmraid the I can boot the main image. Are you running KDE from [extra]/[community] or KDEmod?

Regards

André
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 16:40 GMT
I was going to get back to this problem a while ago, sorry. The fact that the fallback works doesn't make any sense to me. Neither does the fact that running dmraid -ay manually works. We haven't heard back from the dmraid author since our last email to him, and I am still confused about all of this.

If any of you could investigate what exactly is failing and why, I would really appreciate it. I don't have the hardware to set up a fakeraid right now.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 16:54 GMT
Currently I'm running the old dmraid 1.0.0.rc16-1 and I get the warning (2 times)

Init: line 18 /bin/replace: not found

but both images boot just fine. The fallback image complains also about

RAID set "isw_ebaccehbjc_Volume0" already active
The dynamic shared library "libdmraid-events-isw.so" could not be loaded:

If I upgrade to the latest dmraid 1.0.0.rc16-2 then my main image doesn't boot unless I pass dmraid -ay in the recovery terminal but KDEmod goes nuts on me. Fallback image boots fine but the above listed errors. My hardware is a 2,666 Intel Core2 Quad with 4 GB RAM asnd 2 500 GB HDD in RAID 0.
Comment by James Sharam (neutrix) - Monday, 01 March 2010, 16:57 GMT
@Thomas: I agree that the problem is very strange. Is there anything specific that I could post here to help with understanding why it fails?

@Andre: I am running the standard KDE from extra/community.

EDIT:

My hardware is: Core2Duo, 2GB RAM, Nvidia Graphics & Motherboard.

Running Arch x86_64, everything upgraded to the latest from the repos.

dmraid-1.0.0.rc16-2 is the current version installed, won't boot (any image) unless I run "dmraid -ay" in the recovery shell.

When I run "dmraid -ay" I get the errors:

@neutrix: Could you try to downgrade dmraid to 1.0.0.rc16-1? You can get it here

http://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/core/os/x86_64/dmraid-1.0.0.rc16-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz

and rebuild the your image with mkinitcpio -p kernel26. Then you should be able to boot both images just fine.
Comment by James Sharam (neutrix) - Tuesday, 02 March 2010, 09:23 GMT
Andre: I downgraded and it does indeed fix the problem. However, there are still many warnings when booting, including a message that I had not seen before. There was a usage warning about "mknod", the type that you get when you try and use a program with the wrong options. It just said:

Usage: mknod [OPTION]... NAME TYPE [MAJOR MINOR]

Does mkinitcpio set up all of the scripts that might call mknod? If so it might be worth checking that it calls mknod correctly. I apologise if this is all rubbish, I'm not too familiar with exactly what mkinitcpio does, I know it makes some image including all the necessary modules for boot time, but that is about it.

I think some of the warning that show up with the older version of dmraid is due to using busybox and not klibc. But I can't figure out how to fix it though.

dmraid-1.0.0.rc16-2 was build against busybox

dmraid-1.0.0.rc16-1 was build against klibc

The difference is some scripting around creating the /dev/mapper/control device, which fails here loudly, but it doesn't actually matter. Please ignore that message.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Tuesday, 02 March 2010, 09:36 GMT
Isn't there a way to fix this somehow by using the old dmraid package?

what about the

Init: line 18 /bin/replace: not found

errors are they harmless too?
Comment by James Sharam (neutrix) - Tuesday, 02 March 2010, 09:40 GMT
Andre: If a program is wanting to use the replace program, have you made sure that it is included in the binaries of mkinitcpio.conf? You might want to try adding "replace" in there and regenerating your image.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Tuesday, 02 March 2010, 09:41 GMT
Yes, same issue, the replace and mknod problems are related.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Tuesday, 02 March 2010, 09:44 GMT
No, I haven't checked if replace is included in mkinitcpio.conf. But I will now, when I get home from work tonight.

Regards

André

The replace program doesn't exist anymore, it was primitive anyway, that's why the hook was modified to use sed instead. As I said, this can be safely ignored.

readded static dmraid, all should now work again as expected.

  • Field changed: Percent Complete (100% → 0%)
As of the latest updates there is a bug in dmraid having to do with opening libraries. Maybe it should be a new bug but either way rc16-1,2 or 3 (from testing) are not working.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Tuesday, 06 April 2010, 08:20 GMT
Nobody had the time to do it, but there is an upstream fix for this for two weeks. Furthermore, the library problem is due to -Wl,--as-needed.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Tuesday, 06 April 2010, 08:24 GMT
So will this upstream fix included in the next update? 1.0.0.rc16-4?

Hello, I have some new information about this bug I would like to share. I did a fresh install of Arch64 two days ago. It is a dmraid RAID 0 install just like André's. It booted several times just fine using the current dmraid 1.0.0.rc16-2 in core. The only exception was the harmless library errors all of you have already talked about in this bug report.

Yesterday I went into grubs menu.lst file and added the quiet command to the end of the kernel line (not the Fallback one) and rebooted. Just as the boot starts the four Arch logos appear (quad core) and I get the very same error André did. Arch64 refused to boot. So I tried the Fallback grub option and it booted fine.

I knew the only thing I changed since the last successful normal boot (not Fallback) was the quiet command. So I added the quiet command to the Fallback kernel line and rebooted. Sure enough the Fallback kernel gives me André's error too. Then I removed the quiet command from the Fallback kernel line and rebooted again. Now Fallback boots fine again.

So then I removed the quiet command from the normal kernel line (not Fallback) and rebooted. Now the normal kernel boots fine again. My point is, I see André has the quiet command in his normal kernel line but not in his Fallback kernel line. I believe this is why André's Fallback kernel works but not his normal kernel. André could you confirm this please?

I am using a Promise FastTrak Fake RAID chip. I have used Arch64 on this very chip before with the dmraid 1.0.0.rc15 version without problems.

So the question is. Why would the quiet command cause these errors on dmraid RAID arrays?

Thank you for your help.

Here is a copy of my grub menu.lst kernel lines.

# (0) Arch Linux
title Arch Linux
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/mapper/pdc_bcdigeahap1 ro vga=795 quiet < adding the quiet command here and using the non-Fallback grub option gives me André's errors
initrd /boot/kernel26.img

# (1) Arch Linux
title Arch Linux Fallback
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/mapper/pdc_bcdigeahap1 ro vga=795 quiet < adding the quiet command here and using the Fallback grub option gives me André's errors
initrd /boot/kernel26-fallback.img

I just removed the quiet option from my normal as Daniel suggested and upgraded my dmraid to 1.0.0.rc16-2 and now I can also boot my normal kernel and not just the fallback kernel with that version of dmraid.

Thanks Daniel!

Seems weird though that the quiet option would cause such an issue.

Your welcome André. I agree it is weird that the quiet command breaks dmraid. I do hope the developers can fix the quiet command because I do use it and would rather not lose it. I guess in the mean time I will live without it.

I have tried the new kernel26 2.6.33.2-1 in Core, and dmraid 1.0.0.rc16-3 in Testing, and device-mapper 2.02.62-1 in Testing. I also made sure to rebuild the kernel images after installing these updates. All three of these updates did not fix the boot failure caused by the quiet command. However, dmraid 1.0.0.rc16-3 did fix the libraries missing error. At least for me it did. I no longer receive missing library file errors from dmraid.

At this point, I am fresh out of ideas regarding the quiet command boot problem. I will be patient and let the developers get back to us when they can. Thank you for your help guys.

I found these two Arch forum threads. They are recent and seem to be the same bug:

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=92020
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=91534

This thread is not recent but is a very similar bug with a solution that is already in place but may still be relevant:

Good to know at least that the dmraid in testing fixes the library errors. But that it fails to boot with the quiet turned on is perplexing...

I am sorry, there is supposed to be a proper fix to the dmraid problems and Xavier even tested it, but I still didn't upload it (in 4 weeks, shame on me). I'll write myself a note so I'll do it tonight.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 12 April 2010, 09:40 GMT
All the problems? Also the quiet command issue?
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Monday, 12 April 2010, 09:43 GMT
I don't know about the quiet issue yet, but at least all the library problems are solved now and we don't need so resort to static linking anymore.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Monday, 12 April 2010, 17:39 GMT
Okay, a new package dmraid 1.0.0.rc16+CVS should appear in the testing repository soon (you can download it from the ftp mirrors directly instead of -Syu'ing to testing, it should not depend on anything else from testing). Please perform all your tests again with this version and inform me of the status. This one is a dynamically linked package again, should have no library errors and no error messages during initramfs.

I don't know about the "quiet" problem, but test that, too, please.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 12 April 2010, 18:32 GMT
Yes the errors are gone with this version of dmraid, so many thanks for that. But booting with the quiet command still doesn't work. Same errors as before. Have only tried the normal kernel with the quiet command.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Monday, 12 April 2010, 18:55 GMT
The first one is good news - the second not so much.

We should probably add dmraid support to initscripts, so we can enable dmraid monitoring by running dmraid -ay again (without the -I option) when initramfs has finished. But that is not critical.

About the "quiet" problem. As this report is quite long by now and I can't see anymore which errors belong where: Can you repost the error messages you get when booting with quiet?

I'll still move the 1.0.0.rc16+CVS package to core soon, as it fixes at least part of the problems.
Comment by André Fettouhi (A.Fettouhi) - Monday, 12 April 2010, 19:41 GMT
I get the following errors with the quiet command:

ERROR: either the required RAID set not found or more options required
no raid sets and with names :">/dev/null"

ERROR: either the required RAID set not found or more options required
no raid sets and with names :">/dev/null"

waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/mapper/isw_ebaccehbjc_Volumep1

ERROR: unable to determine major/minor number of root device

then I'm dropped into a rescue console. If I exit that I get

mount: mounting /dev/mapper/isw_ebaccehbjc_Volumep1 on /new_root
No such file or directory

ERROR: Failed to mount the real root device

and then it gives up and I'm back in the rescue console. So I don't a kernel panic anymore.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Monday, 12 April 2010, 20:21 GMT
Okay, that is weird, but may be helpful, I'll look into it.

BTW, you should never get panics these days, until you exit that last emergency shell that tells you that "You are on your own", it's a recent change in mkinitcpio.
Comment by Thomas Bächler (brain0) - Monday, 12 April 2010, 20:51 GMT
The quiet problem was introduced by a stupid change in the dmraid hook we made a while back (at the same time when we adjusted to the new mkinitcpio), 1.0.0.rc16+CVS-2 fixes it. Please confirm.
Comment by Oracle Speaks (test0987654321) - Tuesday, 13 April 2010, 00:08 GMT
It works! No library errors, and no other errors at all.
I updated to dmraid 1.0.0.rc16+CVS-2 and rebuilt the initramfs and then tested with and without the quiet command.
I rebooted a few times just to be sure and I tried both the Normal and the Fallback kernels. Both work fine.
When used the quiet command now hides the messages just as is should and the system boots fine.

Thank you very much!

Just tested it with the new dmraid and works great no errors or anything. So this is in my book FIXED now.
