FS#17763 - Unable to scroll in vc/7 during installation

Description:
It seems to be impossible to scroll in vc/7 (where the output of the various install actions is printed) whilst installing Arch. I tried pgup, shift+pgup, shift+up. Please note, I was running this in a VirtualBox virtual machine.

Only thing that should have worked was shift + pgup. Are you sure you were pressing them at the same time.

Yes indeed. Strangely enough I was able to scroll up whilst the install process was configuring the partitions and filesystems (but it would keep jumping back down when it output more info). When it was done setting up partitions and fs's, I was unable to scroll back up... :(

You mean, you couldn't scroll up at all, or you couldn't scroll up very far? I'm guessing that it doesn't have an unlimited history if it's the latter.

I couldn't scroll up at all, none of the regular keybindings works :(

After a VT-switch, you lose the ability to scroll into previous screen content. Only fresh content is accessible.

I see. So yes I guess it's a known 'issue', and thus this could become feature request.

I've never seen a possibility to scroll back after vt-switch on linux, not on any distribution. Linux discards the buffer as soon as you switch VT. If you want to have this changed, you should request a feature request upstream.
