I was wondering why I need three tar handlers on my machine
(bsdtar from core/libarchive, aur/pax, core/(gnu)tar). Turns
out the only thing depending on (gnu)tar was libarchive, and
as I poked around further I couldn't find any evidence that
libarchive still does require it. The docs nowhere say so.
It builds fine without it, and there's no mention of tar in
the configure output. Plus the /usr/lib/libarchive.so.2.7.1
one gets by building without tar looks to have the same
dependencies (according to ldd) as the one from core. Now
nothing seems broken...does libarchive really still require
(gnu)tar after all? bsdtar which we need for pacman wouldn't
be enough?
