Description:

After upgrading my kernel version to 2.6.31.4, my soundcard is not recognized anymore. If I downgrade to 2.6.30.6 and reboot, it begins to work again. And I can do it all over again.
In the attached text file I listed (1) the status before the kernel upgrade, (2) the upgrade procedure and outputs and (3) the status after the upgrade & reboot. More detailed information, like package versions, are also included.

Resumed info:
* onboard soundcard in Asus P5K-SE (Intel 82801I / ICH9) (module: snd-hda-intel)
* kernel26 2.6.31.4-1
* kernel26-firmware 2.6.31-1

I'm sorry for this last comment and file rettach. Please ignore it.

Gerardo, I already looked around the bugtracker and notice the similarity to my issue, but the solution doesn't fit me. The issuer solve his issue by adding "enable_msi=1" in the modprobe.conf. In my case, I already have this config set in modprobe.conf,as you will be able to notice in the "sound-issue.txt", and I still have the issue.

OK. Anyway is a good idea to report to upstream if not already reported. This looks like an upstream bug rather than a packaging issue.
