I upgraded to the new 0.8 Thunderbird and can no longer view my emails. They've disappeared, despite the fact that the messages are apparently still there...I can tell because my inbox has "15" unread messages in it...

works for me... make sure under the view menu that you don't have something like "View unread messages only" marked.

Other than that, try deleting your compreg.dat out of your .thunderbird directory.

i don't know if it's related to that, but for thunderbird 0.8 didn't fetch any mail at all.

the fix for me was to remove the file:
.thunderbird/default/???????.slt/compreg.dat

and then start thunderbird, to see it working in all it's glory.

I had the same problem. I did rm -rf ~/.thunderbird and reset things up
and the problem went away.

I think this just must be a case of the profile not being compatible.
