Description:
The current /etc/rc.d/network sleeps the entire WIRELESS_TIMOUT before checking if a wireless interface has associated with its base station. With the attached patch, it will now check every second up to WIRELESS_TIMOUT seconds to see if association has completed. WIRELESS_TIMEOUT can also be set to -1, which bypasses this check entirely for faster booting (but potentially more confusing error messages down the road).

Oops, I didn't see bug #13299 before posting this. My patch is still useful but doesn't resolve the issue discussed there, though it could be part of a solution.
