In koffice-1.9.99.0-1:

kspread
* doesn't remember format of cells (number vs money vs etc) across reload of document
* doesn't automatically update calculated cells after update of other cells
* can't even get the right answer when doing sum(cell:cell)
* crashes on saving to ODS

I fail to see how this can be called a "release candidate" as it is pretty far from being ready for release.

According to koffice devs version 2.0 is in a state KDE 4.0 was. That means that the first really usable version will be available in one or two years. See http://www.koffice.org/announcements/announce-2.0rc1.php

the thing is koffice 1.6 is unmaintained and does not build/work against quite a few new libs we have in our repos.

Maybe 2.0 should be relegated to "Testing" and 1.6 orphaned to AUR to see if anyone wants to try to get it working?

I won't move it to testing as there is no version left in extra in that case and some people do find it useful.
You are free to add it koffice 1.6 to aur under the koffice1 name. The old files are still available via svn:
