Description:
I use PoivY (Betamax brand like VoIPBuster, VoIPDiscount, etc.) to call landline calls with Ekiga. After upgrading from 3.0.2 to 3.2.0 on Archlinux, it doesn't work anymore. After dialing a number nothing happens. Log file is attached or see http://pastebin.ca/1383640 Additional info: * package version(s) ekiga 3.2.0-1 ptlib 2.6.1-1 opal 3.6.1-1 Steps to reproduce: 1. Dial a number 2. Press Enter 3. Nothing happens |
This task depends upon
ekiga 3.0.2-1
opal 3.4.4-2
ptlib 2.4.4-1
and everything works fine. It's evident that the new version is not working.
you have to downgrade: ekiga, opal, ptlib and x264 (with -Ud)

There are several weaknesses or "bugs" in ekiga. One is that there is a delay to contact sip:500@ekiga.net up to 2 minutes. An other is that the app often hangs and won't exit. All known ekiga bugs.
I also experienced difficulties in setting up the mic. Mixer applet in panel is quite useless. I needed to download gnome-alsamixer and enable mic recording and capture recording, and it just did not want to save the changes. This is something that comes and goes in gnome and checking gnome-alsamixer now and then and enabling rec usually fixes it.
