There are many claims that gcj does not work correctly with
many apps requiring either java-environment or
java-runtime.
These two provisions should then be dropped from java-gcj-compat as they make java packaging difficult and not practical. Here are a list of possibilities : 1) drop java-gcj-compat completely It was good to have it when it was the only free java environment, but we now have openjdk6 also see http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/aur-general/2009-February/003710.html 2) only drop the two provisions it is apparently not compatible. see http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/aur-general/2009-February/003716.html and http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/13071#comment38806 3) use versioned provisions (this is my proposal, but it is complex and I don't like it) see http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/13071#comment38807 |
