Description:
Hardware: Laptop Acer Aspire 7720 model:IKC70 2.6.28-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT i686 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5550 @ 1.83GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux lspci says the soud card is: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) The driver is autodetected at boot, and the module : snd-hda-intel is selected for the device. Ths sound is "working" automatically. Problem: The Acer Aspire 7720 has a sound system with various speakers. Some are on top of the laptop (high frequencies) some are under (mid and bass frequencies i guess). Under Linux, with Alsa, and the driver/modules listed above, only the top speakers play. With makes a very poor quality sound. But under windows, with the manufacturer drivers, the bottom speakers are working, with make a much richer sound. My guess is that this problem happens on many laptops with "Hd" sound system under linux. Additional info: * package version(s) * config and/or log files etc. alsa-lib 1.0.18-1 alsa-utils 1.0.18-1 kernel: 2.6.28-ARCH i686 Note: Please note, this is my first bug report. I just hope it helps. |
