I noticed you too talked on the mailing list about the none
appearing for packages in core, but not member of any
group.
Would it be possible to use 3 seperate menus for a) base b) base-devel c) rest of core instead of 1 containing all 3? In that case the group doesnt need to be visible at all. Just a "Select packages from {base,base-devel,core}" title or similar. |

Reason for closing: Won't implement
Additional comments about closing: Having 3 separate screens offers no added value at all. Since the single screen is divided by group anyway, it's easy to scroll through groups and/or see packages belong to which group

Anyway consider it a feature request for having the following:

What I did do, however, is rename "None" to "other" to make it more clear.
Skip the group selection step which appears first in the Select Packages step. It seems completely pointless.
Have base selection menu appear first with all packages preselected.
The two other menus with deselected all entries.
Package description (
FS#13040) would also be ideal. The select packages step is the one that needs the most polish IMO. This is one way of making it look better.
FS#12890is getting implemented, i think its imperative to solve this one somehow.A possible problem now is that the installer will have A LOT of entries in the package
selection dialogues which will refer to as belonging to "None" (group), including many
libraries people might never even heard of.
How many packages do you have to install before using pacman -S <list of apps>?
