Pidgin multiplies itself istances (up to to 30X) after the connection to jabber or msn. It causes several system slowdown. Additional info: * package version(s) 2.5.3 * config and/or log files etc. Steps to reproduce: Simply open pidgin and connect to msn or jabber account. After few minutes of chat, it start to multiplied his istances. Sorry for the poor english... |

But a more annoying problem is that it keeps crashing randomly.

Try with that.
Note however that in case on pidgin.im program crashes while here it only spawns finite number of threads.
8653 is duplicate of http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/8594 which has been fixed for 2.5.6
