Details
When I try to play music in rhythmbox after recent upgrades,
I get this error:
Failed to create volume element; check your installation I can play music on other players like xmms and bmp fine. |

I believe it's not working because of the gst-plugins upgrade. We
can wait for rhythmbox to upgrade, but in the meantime, we can use
the --with-player=xine option. Rhythmbox can use gstreamer, and
also has xine as a backup.

try running gst-register as root and user.

Ah! That works! Maybe a note should be added to the
gst-plugins.install?

well gst-compprep should have done it but didn't so i will add it
in the next release

gst-compprep segfaults in the postinstall, I don't know why this
is.
