Description:
At the moment initscripts, netcfg, etc. still depend on the (older) net-tools with ifconfig while iproute is newer and offers more features. Would it not be better to move all that is possible to use the ip command instead of ifconfig and route?
Packages like networkmanager etc already do this and many people have those installed anyway.

As Arch wants to stay close to the bleeding edge, it seems good and naturally to me to move to the newest and greatest tools available. Although you cannot remove net-tools at the moment of course, it would shock too many people finding out that the ifconfig command is missing suddenly :)
