Description:
Even with the synaptic driver installed, Xorg from Testing doesn't autodetect touchpads correctly; attempting to use the touchpad or touchpad buttons on my laptop does nothing whatsoever. Xorg 1.4 from Extra autodetects this touchpad properly without a xorg.conf file. Additional info: * xorg-server 1.5.3-1 |

Did you install the xf86-input-synaptics driver and restart hal
afterwards?

synaptics is incompatible with xorg-server 1.5, it won't even
load. xf86-input-synaptics contains a hal fdi file that sets this
driver for touchpads that support the driver.
