Description: Attempting to use the madwifi package included
on the arch install CD did not allow me to connect. No
interfaces were created and /var/log/everything.log reported
"unable to attach hardware: Hardware didn’t respond as
expected, (HAL status 3)" when attempting to load the
ath_pci module.
To solve the problem, I blacklisted ath5k, removed the madwifi and madwifi-utils packages from my system, then used the sources from http://svn.madwifi.org/madwifi/branches/madwifi-hal-0.10.5.6 to install. After loading the new ath_pci module after reboot, interfaces appeared under iwconfig and ifconfig -a, and i could use the usual ifconfig/iwconfig tools to connect. Additional info: * I'm not sure how to find out. The ones included on the CD when i downloaded it on Sat 4th Jul 2008 Steps to reproduce: Attempt to use wireless on a toshiba satellite pro L40 containing an Atheros AR5006EG wireless card. |
