It would be great if the contrib files were also installed. At least the emacs git-mode. :)

I'm thinking -1 on this one. I already install the bash-completion script from contrib/, but that is because it is useful to so many people. On the other hand, I don't install any of the vim or emacs contributed stuff.

I haven't looked at the source tree, but I was thinking just a general git-contrib package.

It would be better if the files go to the right place. A generic git-contrib would not do that. I guess I will upload a specific git-mode package to AUR. Daenyth and Dan, thanks for your time.
