It would be helpful to include common SCSI device modules as a separate package for IDE-kernel users.

Example: I have an aic7xxx controller for my DVD-ROM but use IDE HDs. I have to 'abs' an IDE-kernel package, fix-up the .config and PKGBUILD files, and rebuild it just to use one lousy module. Maybe common SCSI modules could be added as a package. Vice-versa would be good too (IDE modules, SCSI system).

Would think to stick to just IDE/SCSI modules and not all the other stuff the kernel supports.

It would probably be easier for you to use the kernel26-scsi package then. I have a few servers like yours that I need SCSI modules for, and it works fine, saves me a kernel rebuild.

Hrm... I'll have to recheck the config for kernelXX-scsi because I thought the rootfs needed the device driver (in this case, IDE) compiled into the kernel, since modules load AFTER the rootfs is mounted...
