Description:

When viewing certain menus in the GIMP preferences, the program will close unexpectedly. This only seems to happen if the "Small" GIMP theme has been selected beforehand.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open GIMP
2. Go to Preferences
3. Click on Theme and select Small
4. Click on the Default Image, Default Grid, or Display menu entries

Additional comments about closing:  This is an upstream bug related to ome gtk-engines that have problems with rendering methods. The linked task offers some solutions yet they will not be very satisfying.
