Description:
Enigmail is an extension for giving PGP support to Thunderbird; the url for downloading it is: http://enigmail.mozdev.org/.
The problem with Thunderbird 2.0.0.14 is Enigmail doesn't ask the user for the passphrase of his gnupg key (using pinentry) when it tries to open an encrypted message. Enigmail has its own debug log and it gives me this phrase:

2008-05-20 16:18:24.298 enigmailMessengerOverlay.js: *****enigMimeInit: Error in MIME initialization

I downgraded to 2.0.0.12 and without touching anything it's all working again. Seeing the official forum of Enigmail it seems it's working with the 2.0.0.14 version of Thunderbird in another platforms. And because of this:
http://enigmail.mozdev.org/support/troubles.php#wrongversion
, I cannot ask them for support since it seems to me the arch version of Thunderbird isn't the official build.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
Thunderbird 2.0.0.14
Enigmail 0.95.6

Steps to reproduce:
1. Just trying to decrypt an encrypted message, it doesn't ask you for the passphrase of your gnupg key.

Hello,
It's the same thing for me with Enigmail 0.95.6 from mozdev.org and Thunderbird 2.0.0.14-1 from extra archlinux source.
It was working correctly with version 2.0.0.12
I've tried with gpg-agent option and it's not asking me the passphrase.
I've tried without gpg-agent option and it's asking me for a passphrase but i receive this message "bad passphrase"
I didn't find any log to help you more.
Thanks in advance
Tom

Are you sure this is even an Arch problem? Can you install the Official install of thunderbird 2.0.0.14 and test to see if it works?

See the Enigmail website FAQ:
http://www.mozilla-enigmail.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=362

Anyway, this is likely to be related to the trouble with thunderbird and gcc-4.3 reported in  FS#10455

Yes, i'm sure. I checked it right now. The official mozilla build of thunderbird 2.0.0.14 works perfectly with enigmail. The arch version is broken.

Hello,
The new package 2.0.0.14-2 correct the problem with attachment but not for enigmail.
Thanks
Tom

I will quote from the link I put above:

"Enigmail is only compatible to official releases of Thunderbird and SeaMonkey as provided by the Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiaries.

In particular, releases shipped with Linux distributions (such as Ubuntu, Redhat, OpenSuSE or Debian) cannot be supported. If you want to use Thunderbird / SeaMonkey / IceDove / IceApe created and installed by your distribution, then you also need an Enigmail release created by the same distribution."

Yes, it is a problem due to using gcc-4.3 for building but it not an official Arch problem (Enigmail is a third party binary). Someone needs to create a PKGBUILD and submit it to the AUR. So "not a bug"...

I don't know why this bug is reopened again since the last update of thunderbird (2.0.0.14-2) works wonderfully with enigmail.

And for me it's a bug because all the Thunderbird bugs appeared when compiling the software with a gcc version which the Mozilla team doesn't use. Extensions are a vital thing of any of the Mozilla software. It seems to me than of all the extensions which exists, only Enigmail has this requirement but if for any reason Arch developers don't want to compile the software with the gcc version needed i will use the official build (or ABS compile of the software) and reject the arch version (but at least we need to be advised before hand; i was really mad about this at the beginning) since compiling Enigmail with the same gcc version of Thunderbird doesn't give to me any guarantee of a perfect working setup.
