Description:

Did a fresh install with the new ftp iso last night and could not get abs to install with the devel group. I had to deselect abs in order to continue the installation. I don't know if this had something to do with the mirror I had chosen (mirrors.unixheads.org) but I thought it worth bringing to your attention.

The new installation cd worked great and other than the abs mention everything else flowed beautifully!

Reason for closing:  Fixed
Additional comments about closing:  packages.txt is no more. Long live pacman -Sg et al.

abs moved to the extra repository, the installation CD tries to find it from the core repository.

abs was moved to extra.

Is it possible to remove this from the list, or something of the sort?

  • Field changed: Summary (2008.04-rc iso: abs package could not be installed from devel group → Installer should stop depending on packages.txt)
  • Field changed: Priority (Normal → Immediate)
Changed bug topic to reflect what we really need to do here.

We need to move to using pacman directly to get group info.

Yes, the tree of packages for install should be managed by pacman - packages.txt doesn't even generate right anymore, because we don't have categories.

Is this fixed in the latest RC ISO?

Yes yes. Alive, well, kicked in the ass, and this is committed now.
