Description:
Using Gnome + Compiz, Cheese crashes a couple of seconds after startup:

The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 43 error_code 11 request_code 141 minor_code 19)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

To be sure, I have no webcam connected at this stage. Also, my settings for the Gstreamer video output are "x11". In another bug report it was suggested to install gstreamer0.10-theora ( FS#9985 )[1], however, I still experience the crash after having installed it.

Additional info:
* package version(s)
Cheese 2.22.0-2
Gnome 2.22
Compiz 0.7.4-1
Gstreamer 0.10.19-1

Steps to reproduce:
Start up Cheese.
