Hello!

I can't say so much things. It would be nice if pacman knows that yaourt know, signing the installed packages in brackets or not in brackets e.g. by searching.

Like this, after yaourt -Ss pacman-color: aur/pacman-color 3.2.2-4 [installed] (506)

Sincerelly,

Check out the "pacsearch" script distributed in the pacman-contrib package.

I had a patch there : http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.arch.pacman.devel/81/focus=110

The main problem I see with it is that it will always slow down the -Ss operation.
Also Dan was not happy to have -Ss also query the local database, but anyway, the general -S operation has to look at the local db, so there is no consistency problem.

Anyway, we already have that simple pacsearch script which does that + colorized output, are you fine with it?
