Description:Sorry if this is in the wrong place. There are duplicate autorun notices in nautilus. This is because nautilus duplicates functionality of other applications. This is a known bug in other distro's http://wiki.debian.org/Gnome/nautilus_vs_gnome-volume-manager.

Additional info:
* package version(s) nautilus 2.24.2-1
* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:Insert any removable media and open nautilus. See picture here. http://tghc.org/ssn.png

Since gnome volume manager and nautilus have duplicate functionality. As a temp solution renaming /usr/bin/nautilus-autorun-software to /usr/bin/bad-nautilus-autorun-software removes the notifications and gnome volume manager still will let you set up autorun actions in the Configuration editor.

@ filippo colombo: gnome-volume-manager still exists on my system, I'm confused as to what you meant by that?
Comment by filippo colombo (ombra85) - Thursday, 16 April 2009, 17:07 GMT
Yes you're right Scott. Gnome-volume-manager still exist.

I get this problem too with CF Cards and CD's, except I get it THREE times... I must be lucky.
Comment by Valmantas (walmis) - Monday, 20 April 2009, 18:10 GMT
Solved by removing execution bits from /etc/profile.d/xorg.sh
sudo chmod -x /etc/profile.d/xorg.sh

Valmantas: i think it's not a good solution.

Please anyone dev can help here?

I don't want to sound like a moron, but I went back to Ubuntu. Partly because of this.

It seems ok with nautilus 2.6.3.

I still get multiple popups when I insert SD cards, so this isn't fixed. I suspect it's something in our old version of gdm or so, otherwise we would have seen a lot of these bugreports upstream for it.
Comment by Alessandro Doro (adoroo) - Monday, 08 June 2009, 17:25 GMT
As I said in  FS#13138  (comment 39378) the problem definitely lies in gdm.

One more test case; start from a root console and:
· launch /usr/bin/gdm -> got three notices
· launch /usr/bin/gdm-biunary -> got two notices

Weird.
No useful hints from the list of the running processes or environment vars.

Comments about the Valmantas tip to remove execution bits from /etc/profile.d/xorg.sh? It works...

@JGC: I also get two proposals to burn a CD/DVD in Nautilus when inserting an empty CD/DVD.
