Description:
Upgraded to kernel 2.6.25.4. While the kernel should have rebooted it instead showed immediately after Grub "Probing EDD (edd=off to disable)" and nothing happend after that. Adding edd=off to Grub solved the problem BUT one of the hard-disks on my VIA VT6420 did not get detected. Reverting back to 2.6.24.4 and removing "edd=off" from Grub solved the problem.

Additional info:
2.6.25.4 with VIA VT6420 is broken. I set the severity to critical as loosing one of the hard-drives after kernel upgrade is far from convenient and may render the target system even un-bootable if the lost hard-drive happens to include the OS.

Steps to reproduce:
Upgrade to 2.6.25.4 and reboot.
