DetailsAlright, I am not running anything from testing here.
When I first installed Arch Linux on this laptop (about a year ago), I was experiencing a bug that caused virtual terminals to display as a black screen and for a black screen to display upon exiting X (ie. for a shutdown). At that point, I was advised to make some changes to my xorg.conf to fix the problem. It was recommended that I use 'Option "TripleBuffer" "True"' and 'Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "True"', and I believe that resolved the problem for me. As of nvidia-169.09 and/or xorg-server-1.4.0.90-6 and/or kernel26-2.6.24.1-2 I've started experiencing these problems again, as well as a blank screen that refuses to go away whenever my screen blanks due to extended idling. I have to restart X to get rid of this black screen. There seem to be subtle differences between my issue and that of others in a similar bug filed elsewhere, which leads me to believe that this may not be the same bug. I have a HP Pavilion dv6000z notebook running a GeForce Go 6150. |
