Description:
After upgrading to xorg-server 1.4.0.90-9 I noticed that chars obtained by my AltGr key is broken, i.e I do not get regular chars via eg. Altgr + ',' or AltGr + '.' which should produce '<' and '>' respectively, Similar situation with AltGr + v which gives '@' etc.

By looking at CVS entries I see there is new xkb-fixes.patch which I'm thinking is responsible for this.

Reverting back to org-server 1.4.0.90-8 'solves' the problem.
Additional info:
* package version(s)

xorg-server 1.4.0.90-9

* config and/or log files etc.

Steps to reproduce:

Gour

It seems that this one is covered with http://bugs.archlinux.org/8855 and http://bugs.archlinux.org/8532.

Sincerely,
Gour

Old  FS#8855  is now closed, this new report is more useful.

Does it still happen with xorg-server 1.4.0.90-10?
Comment by Greg (dolby) - Wednesday, 23 July 2008, 17:37 GMT
Is this still a problem?

Is this still a problem with xorg-server 1.5.2?

I use xorg-server from testing and KDE4. Since there is iput hotpluging, I set the layout in system-settings. I had the same problem.

When I set the layout with Gnome, everything works.

Sry, solved my problem. I had to change the keyboard model from pc105 to evdev

I've found some workaround for this.

input devices to "standard", means kbd and mouse as drivers (not evdev)

Add the following to the xorg.conf. Note: This disables auto detection for input devices! But it's the only workaround i've found for now
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AutoAddDevices" "false"
EndSection

1.) You can set your locale again (so you have the right keyboard layout already on-start at the login manager).
2.) Keyboard layouts in KDE4 will work properly (Language, Hotkeys etc).

Setting the AutoAddDevices serverflag to false disables the interfacing with HAL and uses the input devices configured in your xorg.conf. If you want to fix keyboard related problems using hotplugging you have to configure your keyboard via HAL, because it's outside X's control.
