The jed editor also has a version for X Window System, called xjed. Please include it to jed package or make an independent xjed package as well.

Not really interested in creating an xjed pkg at the moment, other stuff to sort out, but i will look into it...

I'll keep this open to remind me ;)

If I remember correcly, adding xjed to the jed package should be a matter of adding

make xjed

to PKGBUILD script. Please refer to my jed package that I made a long time ago and that is still hanging in incoming.

what is the state of this?

i would suggest that xjed is included in jed pkg but that no dependency of x-server is added but only an post-install info that xjed is part of jed and you need an x-server to use it

Nothing has happened, since Lou was kind of non-enthusiastic. If You can take it over, Damir, it would be great. I do not mind not adding dependency on X. Alternately, we can also have a separate xjed package that contains only the xjed binary and is dependant on X (e.g. Debian does it like this).
