Hi,

hdf5 1.8 introduces non compatible changes that aren't incorporated in any octave and maybe others, hdf5 requires --enable-hdf5v1_6 option in configure to work well with software that needed hdf5 1.6.x

cheers,
Andrzej.

btw... seems page requires login when more than 20 connections are being made, this doesn't seem like a good thing for package as when someone wants to rebuild he can be unable to... how about using (unofficial I think) mirror? http://www.sfr-fresh.com/unix/misc/hdf5-1.8.0.tar.gz - md5 is ok for it and it doesn't have limits

Cheers,
Andrzej.
