AUR exists in order to fulfil the needs of lots of Arch users to use software that is not in the binary repositories. It is a great system to share PKGBUILDs and to help other people. There is a link on the Arch website and a nice disclaimer on the AUR site about the fact that builds are unsupported and so on. However, there is no tool in the binary repositories to get packages from AUR. I think at least one of them should be included to make it quick and easy to get AUR stuff on a new installation, with the necessary warnings (red flashing if you like :) ). Afterwards, people can choose if they stick with it (e.g. aurbuild) or use the easier but probably more dangerous yaourt. |

by the way, along with the request closure : http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Community_repo_candidates outadated yes. the aurbuild and yaourt entries are still valid
