ntfs-3g should extract /sbin/mount.ntfs-3g as /sbin/mount.ntfs-3g.pacnew
In mount.ntfs-3g are stored the locale settings for mounting ntfs drives with hal and after every ntfs-3g upgrade the file is replaced.

The default file is a symlink and by replacing it you can choose the locale for mounting ntfs filesystems with ntfs-3g.
After every update, you have to re-enter the locale, else you cant see filenames with non latin characters.

That's silly.
KDE should be fixed to do correct option parsing for ntfs-3g,
and anyway - if you want to modify some file that is not in backup array of a package - put it in NoUpgrade into pacman.conf
