The current version of OpenOffice in [extra] (2.3.1-2) fails to start when being called in a Xinerama-environment. All that helps is to kill it with -9 to get it out of the process table and try it again without Xinerama. This happens for me under XFCE 4 from [extra] with Xinerama and the fglrx (catalyst) driver from the current [extra].

Any errors in the console?

Just "javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!" but it also gives this message when started up in a non-Xinerama environment. There is not debug-output at all otherwise.

I'm running OOo with NVidia driver in Xfce TwinView mode without any trouble. I guess it's fglrx related.

Please check OOo 2.4rc from testing and/or the one from unstable repo. and please try free ati Xorg driver.
