I installed the following two packages, but in the reverse order:

libgpod-dev_0.5.3+actually0.6.0-0.1_i386.deb
libgpod2_0.5.3+actually0.6.0-0.1_i386.deb

Then I tried to execute the following as described for my context:

/usr/bin/ipod-read-sysinfo-extended [/dev/xxxx] /media/IPOD

But here I’m getting this error:

Couldn’t write SysInfoExtended to /media/PL_iPod

@rmdloss: I don't know why you install deb packages, but your problem didn't appear here.3

The specific binary doesn't belong to libgpod, in the libgpod pacakge is no executable binary at all, just libs.
Comment by Eric Belanger (Snowman) - Thursday, 27 March 2008, 00:39 GMT
The binary is only present in x86_64 package. Probably sg3_utils was installed on the x86_64 machine and the configure script detected it thus building the binary. Rebuilding libgpod without sg3_utils installed will fix it. Otherwise, there's probably a configure switch to explicitely disable sg3 support.

I will have a look at it, but on my x86_64 there is no such a binary. I'm at work right now, but will have a look this evening.
