actually, I'd like the banner logo to match favicon (which is the same as in AUR pages). :-P

The thing is icons are icons and logos are logos. The logo is the professional representation of an entity, whereas the icon is a thematic version (ala Tango and Crystal themes). The website banner uses the actual logo, and the favicon uses the Crystal version of Arch icons. If you look at Ubuntu's homepage (and other distros) you'll see similar behaviour.
