Description:
The recent upgrade to tk 8.5.0 (and associated python package upgrade) has broken some tkinter text widgets.

Selection of text in idle no longer works.

The leo AUR package is unuseable, due to problems related to text-cursor location.

I don't believe that there is anything Arch-specific here, except that Arch is an early adopter of the tk 8.5.0 update. However, Arch users may want to check other tkinter apps that use a text cursor.

Steps to reproduce:
Run idle and attempt to select/highlight text with the mouse; nothing happens.
Run leo and attempt to type into the body text pane; each letter appears twice.

A relevant thread on the python-dev mailing list can be found here:
http://www.nabble.com/Tkinter-problems-with-Tcl-Tk-8.5-tt14360516.html#a14570289

The python dev has fixed several tkinter problems in python version control, slated for python 2.6. The fixes appear to include both problems listed above. He doesn't intend to back-port the fixes, so he recommends staying with tk 8.4 while using python 2.5.

Would Arch consider reverting the tk 8.5 upgrade back to 8.4, until python 2.6 is adopted?
