If pacman detects a newer version of itself, it writes:

:: pacman has detected a newer version of itself.
:: It is recommended that you upgrade pacman by itself
:: using 'pacman -S pacman', and then rerun the current
:: operation. If you wish to continue the operation and
:: not upgrade pacman separately, answer no.
:: Cancel current operation? [Y/n]

This is misleading. In fact, if the user answers with "yes", pacman starts upgrading itself. Additionally, the question asked is confusing to the user.

I suggest the following message:
:: pacman has detected a newer version of itself.
:: It is recommended to upgrade pacman first. You will
:: have to re-run the current operation.
:: Upgrade pacman instead of current operation? [Y/n]
